Before the book:

Externally

Before I began with this work in my wardrobe you could find more trousers than skirts or dresses. I use to were big clothes, I like to wear boots, better masculine than feminine, backpack better than bags, I never wear shawls, scarfs or belts…All those were not made for me.

In appearance I wasn´t a masculine woman, but now I see I was neither feminine. I wear less make up and never do the make up over. I liked to get ready because it made me feel good, but I see I didn´t use many of my resources on it. I didn´t know my body and how to show it.

Regarding to my hair I like to have it loose, without rubber bands, clips or recogido, this has been another challenge for me to use hair shawls, hairbands and new hearstyle and it was so funny.

I used to have a more or less strict nutritious guidelines, not assuming my responsability on my feeding, I only apply what others told me but without thinking of it. Now I make my own menu with the help with some guidelines that tell what is best for me but give me the freedom and the responsibility of making it by my own and I´m learning how to do this.

Internally

My book focus on two objectives. When I read them I thought thy are not reachable, at the same time I thought “if this is true… if I can get this…,”.

All I have to do is to follow the steps that were ruled forward, get to my own internal resources using my external tools to change.

When I followed the first steps, looking for a suitable glasses for me, cosmetics, skirts, shoes (thre wasn´t any in my wardrobe) making my own menu, I beganfeeling inside a change. I called this “happy”, I feel happy beginning the changes, excited, funny, sure, strong.

I use to think this things are for others, not for me, but I can feel the sensation in me and how it is showing externally.

The work had to be constant, each day I have to choose my skirt, with the apropiate shoes, the accessories, make-up, hair style, I had to be aware in never repeat.

In my new wardrobe the skirts, the dresses, tight, with decoration, buttons, zips, belts, scarfs, bags, different high shoes stand out.

Ich morning is a new experience and without noticing it something has changed in me.

In this time I have heard sentences like “you look prettier” “this hair color flatters you” “your glasses are very nice” “What have you done?” and other similar. It is true that is nice to hear it, it gives you a better mood and self steem, but when the words come out of my ears something internal tells me “Nuria, that’s not important, what comes out from the inside, it was kept in and there is more to get out, don´t be conform with the pretty or the happy and keep in searching what is inside yourself.

For me it is difficult to put it in words, but what it really brings consistency to this work is the presence, the strength, the certainty that become strong inside myself and lead me from day to day to my aims. Now, when I read them they don´t seem to be so unreachable. I know the change has begon and part of me, wthat was hidden, they teach me to show it to uncover it.

It is not only putting on a shawl or make-up your eyes, is to believe in you as woman, to loose the fear of showing this deep part of ourselves that we have beeing hidding because of the fear of beeing vulnerable, when it is this what make us strong.

When I began with this work my expexctation were really not so high, I didn´t expect to live what I´m living, it surprised me and it satisfied me a lot and I´m looking forward on keep advancing.

Not only my clothing and my image has changed, my body is restructured, my skin gets better and I feel more vitality. And the most important, my head is reaching the calm and I believe in myself, in my capacity to reach my two objectives that stoped me before.

In front of me there opens a door that I cross and encourage me to know new ones. I´m concious I have a long way and not easy to follow but now I recognize my strength, my own resources and I have lost the fear to show me as I am, at least there is a bit that has waked up.
